  • Message from the President and CEO of IMA

I hope you are healthy and safe as we continue to beat the COVID-19 pandemic. I am amazed at how IMA staff, volunteer leaders, and members around the world have sacrificed, adapted, and served as inspiration over the past several weeks and, in some cases, months.

IMA's global offices remain closed and we continue to work from home, although our China teams will begin to go back into the office on a staggered basis. Our volunteers also have been working from home, and like the staff, are committed to business continuity to serve our organization. In particular, IMA's Small Business Committee recently published a new whitepaper, "Small Business Planning During COVID-19," to educate small business owners about the steps they could take to help proactively manage the impact of the pandemic on their business operations. I thank the Committee for its quick work and passion for service.

I'm happy to share that we've seen an overwhelming response by members making the most of our free IMA Data Analytics & Visualization Fundamentals Certificate course and the IMA Strategy and Competitive Analysis Learning Series®. We will continue to offer these products to you free of charge now through June 30. We were touched by this heartfelt comment from a member – "Thank you IMA for helping me grow when the world isn't."

We're also looking forward to the launch later this month of Blockchain 101 by IMA, which will also be offered free through June 30. These and other free online educational resources can be found on our new IMA Resources web page. In addition, to fulfill our mission to serve the profession, we've opened our doors to nonmembers to allow them access to select IMA resources free of charge for a limited time. Many accounting and finance professionals are facing difficult circumstances and need continuing education, career support, thought leadership, and remote networking.

While we continue to accelerate our offerings in online education, we made the difficult decision to cancel IMA's 2020 Annual Conference & Expo, scheduled to take place in Atlanta in June. The health and safety of everyone is our top priority. We're looking forward to bringing our 2021 conference to you next June in Scottsdale, Ariz. Our Call for Presenters will open in July.

We continue to take care of our CMA® candidates by offering many free study tools through our new CMA Resources web page. We are monitoring public health conditions around the world and will continue to adjust testing windows to ensure safety and flexibility for our CMA and CSCA® candidates.

IMA remains strong financially with the will and resolve to invest in your future success. Remember, there is likely someone in greater need than you. We must all take care of those not in a position to take care of themselves. During this time of uncertainty, let's demonstrate courage, care, and conviction of purpose.

Thank you for being a part of IMA's global community.

    Sincerely,

    Jeff Thomson, CMA, CSCA, CAE

    President and CEO
